Football in Nigeria
In Nigeria, football is a source of national pride and unity, introduced by British missionaries and colonizers in the early 20th century. The establishment of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) in 1945 marked a significant milestone in the sport’s growth and development. Football has since thrived, captivating millions of Nigerians and transcending social, ethnic, and geographic divides.
It’s not just a game, but a symbol of national identity and a powerful force for good, uniting the country in support of the Super Eagles just like in the ongoing AFCON matches.
Karim Adeyemi’s Contribution to Promoting Football Development in Nigeria

We understand that football is more than just a game – it’s a powerful vehicle for change. By providing access to quality football programming, training, and resources, we aim to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed both on and off the pitch.
Our founder, Karim Adeyemi, fervently believes in harnessing the power of sports, particularly football, as a vehicle for social transformation. With this vision in mind, he established Adeyemi Football Club as the cornerstone project of our organization. The club serves as an incubator for cultivating raw talent and propelling aspiring athletes toward stardom on both domestic and foreign soil.
Since its inception, under the guidance of Chairman and President Abiodun Adeyemi, Adeyemi Football Club has experienced remarkable growth. Through unshaken commitment and strategic leadership, we have assembled a diverse team of over 50 talented and dedicated players and team. This exponential expansion is proof not only of the club’s potential but also of its unrelenting drive to nurture gifted athletes.
In collaboration with the Nathaniel Idowu Foundation, we were instrumental in revitalizing the Maracana Stadium, a state-of-the-art football arena located in the Ajegunle community of Lagos State.
Thanks to generous donations from philanthropists, we were able to refurbish the stadium’s hostels, creating a welcoming environment for athletes and fans alike. Our founder, Karim Adeyemi, made a significant contribution to this effort by donating a96 fully air-conditioned beds hostel, 24-hour power and solar backup, treated water supply, top-notch shower, and changing rooms. ensuring that visiting teams and athletes have a comfortable place to stay during tournaments and events.
Karim Adeyemi Foundation’s Goal for Football Development
At Karim Adeyemi Foundation, we recognize that football transcends mere sportsmanship; it can be a powerful tool for social impact. To further develop football in Nigeria, we aim to empower individuals through education and football.
By 2030, we have set an ambitious goal: to train 5,000 professional football players, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers and positively influence their communities while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, and 10.
In collaboration with our partners and supporters, we strive to create a lasting legacy that extends far beyond the pitch.
Additionally, we plan to establish a standard football academy for age categories below 18, providing a comprehensive and structured program for youth development. This academy will be supported by football/recreation centres that will serve as hubs for football excellence, offering state-of-the-art facilities, expert coaching, and opportunities for players to hone their skills.
With Adeyemi Football Club (AFC) we are harnessing the power of football to empower young people and contribute to the overall development of the sport. We achieve this by providing accessible and inclusive football training, coaching, and facilities. This allows young individuals, regardless of background, to:

Adeyemi Football Club in the IFC
Adeyemi Football Club (AFC) is making waves in the Ibadan Football Council (IFC)league! After a strong showing in the qualifiers, including a competitive draw against Winners FC, our team secured its place in the league with flying colors.
Now, we’re not just participating, we’re leading the charge! AFC is currently topping the group stage. This achievement is evidence of the hard work and passion of the players, coaches, and everyone involved in AFC. We’re committed to pushing ourselves further and aiming for ultimate success in the competition.
