Adeyemi FC’s Valiant Effort Falls Short Against VIA in 3-2 Thriller

The Ibadan-based professional football club, Adeyemi FC, continued their campaign in the Ibadan Football Council (IFC) league with a fiery encounter against VIA Football Academy on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Olubadan Stadium, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

Just 2 minutes into the game, VIA Football Academy surged ahead, setting the tone for their dominance. Despite spirited attempts from Ali Ayuba, Akande Timileyin, and Victor Okeleke to level the score, Adeyemi FC struggled to break through.

In the 30th minute, chaos erupted as the opponents’ fans attacked Adeyemi FC’s supporters and officials, disrupting the game. Amidst the turmoil, VIA managed to double their lead in the 34th minute.

Following a brief halt in play to address the situation, the game resumed after a 10-minute delay. As halftime approached, Coach Drey made a tactical substitution, bringing on Ajekiigbe Sunday to bolster the attack.

The intensity carried into the second half, with Ogunbode Timothy’s powerful strike deflected for a corner. Coach Drey then introduced Bello Akeem to reinforce the midfield. Despite the efforts of Timothy and Sunday, Adeyemi FC struggled to breach the opponent’s defense.

In the 60th minute, VIA extended their lead, but Ajekiigbe Sunday reignited Adeyemi FC’s hopes with a stunning goal just two minutes later. With renewed vigor, Adeyemi FC pressed forward, earning a penalty that Victor Okeleke converted to narrow the deficit.
